Help Dana and Her Dad Rebuild After Eaton Fire Loss
Donation protected
Dear friends and neighbors,
My name is Dana. My 84 year old father (Bill) and I barely escaped with our lives when the Eaton fire blasted through a swath of Altadena, CA within one hour. Driving out of Altadena on Tuesday night was a dangerous, harrowing experience but we are so glad to be alive. We had only enough time to grab passports, our laptops, and a few documents. There was no time to pack any clothes, toiletries, food, or anything else. We now have only my car and the clothes on our backs.
My grandparents moved into our Altadena house in 1972. I have memories of spending holidays there that date back to my early childhood.
This is our house before the fire destroyed it:
This is what’s left of our house now:
I’m a professional dog trainer who does in-home training and many of my clients resided in the Altadena area. I won’t be able to resume training their dogs any time soon because many of my clients’ homes have been destroyed by the fire as well.
Given his age and that he’s still recovering from hip replacement surgery, this is going to be a long road ahead both mentally and physically for my dad. I lost everything I own in the fire as well, as I had moved into our family home recently to help out with his recovery from surgery.
