Hello, my name is Kim Liew, and I’m sharing this on behalf of someone truly special to me: Dana Adona.

Dana is a very private person who rarely speaks about her own struggles. But if you know her, you know she is kind, compassionate, and always thinking of others before herself. She is the person who shows up, who helps without being asked, and who gives quietly—expecting nothing in return.

Above all else, Dana is a devoted grandmother and caregiver. She plays an active role in raising her grandson, loving and caring for him with the heart, strength, and dedication of a mother. Her days are filled with putting his needs first—providing stability, guidance, and unconditional love. He is her world, and she is his safe place.

Dana is also the friend and family member everyone leans on. Whether it’s offering a listening ear, lending a hand, or stepping in during difficult moments, she is always there. She has spent her life taking care of others, often without pause and without recognition.

Recently, Dana received devastating news. What initially seemed like a lingering infection caused by a persistent cough turned out to be far more serious. A biopsy confirmed stage 3 lung cancer, and further testing revealed that the cancer has spread to multiple lymph nodes. There were also concerning areas seen on her pelvic scan; while these have not yet been confirmed as cancer, they add to the uncertainty she now faces.

Due to these findings, Dana is not a candidate for surgery. Her medical team has determined that the best course of action is to begin immunotherapy, followed by radiation and chemotherapy.

This journey will be long and incredibly challenging—physically, emotionally, and financially. Dana will face significant medical expenses, possible loss of income during treatment and recovery, and added costs for medications, supplements, therapy, and specialized nutrition—all while doing her best to remain strong for her grandson.

Dana has spent her life caring for others. Now, she needs our care.
