Dan Ward is my brother-in-law and married to my sister Penny. Dan is a very special guy, loved dearly by anyone who has had the good fortune to make his acquaintance. He is a son, brother, husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, uncle and great uncle. A young man that has been nailed by a terrible challenge. He was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer last year. After undergoing major surgery, several different rounds of chemo and targeted therapy, all treatments have failed. His cancer has spread to his bones and other organs. Unfortunately, his cancer is very aggressive and has a mutation that makes it hard to treat. He is on disability now and is searching for clinical trials. His insurance does not cover the cost of travel, airfare, accommodations, etc and it doesn’t touch the cost to support his family.  He is a prideful man that has spent his life working 2 jobs to support his family and is currently unable to work. Both Dan and Penny are facing employment insecurity, financial insecurity at a time when peace and security should be a given. Dan has everything to live for and has never needed this kind of support or help until his diagnosis. They were blessed with donations early in his diagnosis and now, over a year later, the costs are great as his cancer is so complex. I hope that we can help this family by making it possible for them to be free of financial stress at a time when they should be able to focus on quality of life.
