Three weeks ago, our parents’ world turned upside down. Their beloved dog Dan — a 100-pound Great Pyrenees/German Shepherd mix and our family’s gentle giant — was hit by a truck, shattering his pelvis.
The timing couldn’t have been more challenging, both financially and emotionally. Just four weeks after our dad, Alan, had open-heart surgery, they were suddenly facing another emergency — this time for their goofy, loyal three-year-old best friend.
Dan was rushed to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital at Washington State University, where an incredible team performed life-saving surgery to give him a chance to walk again. Thanks to them, he’s making amazing progress: just three weeks later, he can stand and support his own weight for five minutes at a time! Every day brings small victories.
At only 3 years old, Dan has so much life ahead. He’s the dog who bounds up to everyone with his big paws, wins hearts everywhere he goes, and loves nothing more than being by our parents’ side. Seeing him in pain has been heartbreaking — but we’re determined to give him the best chance at a full recovery.
We set our goal at $5,000, knowing it won’t cover all of Dan’s medical expenses, but every bit of support will help and ease the burden on our parents as they both heal. We’re so grateful for any donation — or even a simple kind word.
We’re so grateful for the kindness, support, and words of encouragement we’ve already received. We’ll keep posting updates as Dan gets back on his feet — literally. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of his healing journey.
