Help Dan survive underemployment

I'm Dan. I do a bunch of podcasts and work as a grocery picker at Whole Foods. I am dependent on social services such as SSI and EBT, but in recent months, those services have not been able to full support me.

Why is this?

SSI and EBT are based on income and are given out on a fixed, monthly basis. My job, however, requires picking up shifts when they drop on their website once a week at a specific time and during a very short timeframe. This means some months I can earn more, and some months I can earn less. This month I'm earning less. However over the last few months I earned more. Because reporting my wages can only be done once a month and only affect the months following, I am going through an extremely lean month, and cannot afford to pay for rent, groceries, and other bills. Even my tax refund isn't able to fully support me when groceries are taken into account.

I may have to start doing this every month until I can acquire a job with consistent hours. The amount is to cover rent and my credit card bill, both of which need to be paid ASAP. In the meantime, I have begun job searching, and will be working with a job finding agency to fin sufficient employment.
