Dan is a kind and gentle person who has found himself in a very tough situation. We met years ago when I worked as a landscaper, and over time, we became friends. Dan is now 69 years old and has suffered two, possibly three, strokes or heart-related incidents in the past few years. These health challenges have left him unable to use the right side of his body and essentially unable to walk. The strokes have also made it difficult for him to communicate, as his speech is now impaired.
Dan has no family left—no children or siblings—and no friends nearby. He struggles to get groceries or even make it to the store for his medicine and prescriptions. Getting out of his car is a challenge, and when he tries to run errands, he often falls and needs emergency services to help him back into his car. (He’s now planning on selling his car as he can’t use/afford it) He urgently needs an electric wheelchair and long-term in-home care, but he is on a long waitlist just to be screened for government assistance.
I’ve done what I can to help, but I live 12 hours away and have limited resources myself. The funds raised will go toward getting Dan an electric wheelchair, covering travel expenses so I can help him for a few days, helping him renovate his bathroom/house to make it accessible for him to use. We also hope to bring Dan to the Nashville area, where I can support him until his eligibility for assistance is processed. Dan has been extremely stressed about money issues his inability to do daily tasks. He is at his wits end emotionally and has an hard time seeing any hope for his situation. It breaks my heart to see him struggle this hard physically and emotionally. And he’s completely alone at the moment. Any help you can give would mean the world to (me) us and help give Dan a little hope and real assistance quickly.
thanks for reading and for any help ♥️
