Help Dan Overcome Esophageal Cancer

Hi, my name is Kim. This is my husband Dan. Handsome devil isn't he :) We recently found out Dan has esophageal adenocarcinoma (which ironically is the same cancer that killed my father). That means that he has a cancerous tumor in his esophagus which has his esophagus closed off to about the diameter of a straw (image below - squeamish alert). He is unable to eat any solid food and can only handle liquid nutrition and hydration and only at very small amounts at a time. In order to shrink the tumor, he will need targeted radiation and chemotherapy. He currently does not have insurance and the treatments will likely exceed $50,000 ($20,000 for the radiation alone). We have attempted to obtain financial assistance (to avoid going this route), but unfortunately, since we are above the poverty level, we do not qualify for assistance of any kind. In the USA, if you're below the poverty line, obtaining treatment is not a concern, and those that are wealthy can afford it. But for those of us that work hard, that are in the middle, we are left to fend for ourselves. Any assistance provided would be used to start my husband's treatment immediately and will hopefully keep him with me for a long time.
