Help Dan Jenkins Beat Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

To family, friends, STS9 community, and supporters of Hot Ham Worldwide, I write to you today in hopes that we can come together in support of one of our favorite humans, Dan Jenkins.
My name is Missi Nielsen and I first met Dan nearly a decade ago. Since then, we have traveled across the country and internationally together, lived together, and have shared in some of life’s best and most difficult moments. We’ve always joked that he was the little brother I never had! For anyone that knows Dan knows he is made of love, spontaneity, killer dance moves, grill skills, milk, and most of all… Hot Ham! He has a way with words that can inspire aimlessly (pun intended), engage, and move mountains. He has been writing a book and put plans in motion to invest in some land where he can have a tiny home. All of this came to an abrupt halt when he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on March 15, 2021.
Dan started in-patient chemotherapy at University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City and thankfully his body is responding well to treatment. However, he has a long road ahead of him as he battles ALL and kicks cancer's butt. After he completes in-patient chemotherapy, he will need to continue out-patient chemotherapy for an additional 3-12 months. If all goes well, he will be considered for a stem cell transplant, during which he will need to live in close-proximity to the hospital and will require a 24 hour caretaker. He will be immuno-compromised and unable to work in the public for at least a year following the treatments. His insurance covers some of the costs, but he will be left with lost wages, astronomical out-of-pocket costs in addition to needing to pay for housing, household bills, travel, etc. Dan’s family is fully supportive but their funds are limited as well.
We have set up a shared bank account for this GoFundMe that Dan and his mom, Coco, will manage and all funds will be used to pay for the expenses listed above. Please consider donating if you are able. Every little bit helps!
