Help Dan Hull find stable housing
Donation protected
Earlier this year Dan Hull (bio below) fell and injured his shoulder. He recently had surgery to repair it, but since the fall and for some time to come Dan will not have full mobility of that arm. As a result, he has been displaced from the home and has been unable to make crafts, such as drums, shakers, beadwork bags which were his primary source of income.
Our goal is to help Dan be able to move into an accessible home of his own. In order to do this, he needs to pay off his van, have enough for a deposit, and rent money for a few months. We set the goal at $5,000 but strongly believe our community can at least double that. Giving an amount that might be a bit of a challenge for some of us could greatly improve the quality of life for him.
What Dan Hull has given to the community is beyond words or value. If it were not for him, Lew and I would not be who we are today. I am certain many of you reading this would say the same thing. The first time I met Dan, at the very first beat of that big drum, I felt my heart crack open, tears fill my eyes and even though I didn't know anyone there, I felt so strongly that is where the world makes sense to me. Profound experiences with him continued over the next ten years, and I am so grateful to have him as family. I know there are many of you who have similar stories. I can't even count the number of people who have told me their lives were changed by the ceremonies and lodges he runs. He is the first to offer songs and prayers for anyone who needs them. He is always there when his family needs their car fixed. He is always willing to listen to our troubles, and help people find what they need. He gives so much of himself, and never asks for anything in return (aside from not sneaking beans into his brownies). Anyone that has met him knows how humble and generous he is. He would never in a million years ask for this. Now is the time to step up for our Elder. We should never take anyone or their gifts for granted. He's changed the lives of countless people. Let's show him some of the power that can create.

About Dan:
Songide Makwa (Strong Heart Bear) is an Ojibwa Elder. He is also known by Daniel Hull to his family and friends that join him in this journey of life. His path has always been one rooted in service however the direction and passion of service became more sacred after a devastating accident left him paralyzed and wheelchair-bound. Prior to his accident, Daniel's life had been dedicated to different areas of volunteering as well as working with at-risk youth and acting as a spiritual advisor in the prison system. He has been leading a life of service for nearly three decades volunteering in a number of ways according to his vision, his sacred dreams, and following his heart.
In addition to sweat lodges, talking circles, teachings, a kind ear and the warmest of hugs, Daniel facilitates 4-day ceremonies twice per year in his native Wisconsin and has for the last 25 years. Dan has become known for a very sacred healing ceremony that he performs, using a large drum and a circle of female healers. This ritual is a very powerful, spontaneous, and transformative experience. These healings are open to anyone who feels called to them, regardless of race, religion, or heritage.
