On January 14th Dan suffered a ruptured aneurysm in his brain, leading to a subarachnoid hemorrhage, which is quite a rare & dangerous type of stroke. He was rushed to the hospital in Green Bay and has been recovering in the ICU ever since. Dan was stable enough to come out of a medically induced coma on January 31st and since then every day has been filled with a series of small victories. Squeezing our hands, wiggling his toes, gentle eye contact, a half smile at a silly joke. As I write this on February 8th, Dan has been able to move from the bed to a chair for a few hours each day and he’s started to do brief standing & “walks” with the help of a cardiac walker and three amazing PTs. He’s working hard to get beyond needing the aid of a ventilator, and we are hopeful that Dan will be able move out of the ICU soon. Every day Dan improves, but we know his recovery will be a marathon - not a sprint.
Dan is facing overwhelming medical expenses, and every dollar truly makes a difference. If you’re able, please consider donating to his GoFundMe and sharing it with others. Your support helps ease the financial burden so Dan can focus on healing. ❤️
