Hi, my name is Tera. My father-in-law, Dan Gerald, lost everything in a devastating house fire.

I'm writing this on his behalf as he is not on social media.

The house on Bon Dickey in Central Louisiana at approximately 4 a.m. on February 16th caught fire and quickly engulfed both the house and the mobile home where my brother-in-law and his wife lived. Both homes were completely destroyed, leaving them with nothing but the clothes on their backs.

Had it not been for Daisy, my sister-in-law's 13-year-old dog, and her unusual barking, my brother-in-law would not have gone outside to see what she was alerting them to. When he saw that the house was on fire, he quickly ran to get Dan and his house guest out of the house. Unfortunately, the fire had already consumed most of the house and was burning in my father-in-law's room.

He sustained a minor injury to his foot and needs to replace all of his medications, including his insulin.

We are so thankful that my brother-in-law was able to get there in time. While he is able to stay with us instead in a hotel, he will need help financially for clean up, demolition, and rebuilding.

All donations received will be sent directly to my father-in-law, Dan Gerald, so he can restart from scratch and rebuild his life.
