I am setting up a Go Fund Me for my very good friends, Dan and Erin Bayless.

Dan battled with Dystonia for many years and finally had surgery to control it in May 2020. He enjoyed life without the full side effects of his disease for four short years—he’s been able to continue his work as a carpenter and build/rebuild beautiful rooms for clients, he’s been able to enjoy golfing again, spend time with friends & family without issue, be a present and dependable husband/father to his wife & three kids and has had the MOST fun playing with his beautiful grandkids Matthew, Lili, and Lukas.

Unfortunately, Dan was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Esophageal cancer. This cancer is not curable but it IS treatable. The hope is, with radiation and chemo, the doctors can keep his cancer at bay and put Dan into remission. As you may expect, this is preventing Dan from being able to work. He is having a very hard time eating and sleeping—and what he needs to do MOST, right now, is rest and eat. On top of that, he is wrought with anxiety over how their bills will be paid.

While Erin is still working full time, they also need Dan’s income to stay afloat. His short-term disability payments are minimal. The high-nutrition meals/supplements Dan needs to consume are very expensive and they have quickly realized that paying their monthly bills is going to be a challenge in their new reality.

Dan has been a pillar in the West Mifflin community—devoting many years of his adult life as a beloved soccer coach—something he truly loved to do. Erin has worked in Special Education, providing assistance, support and care to students with special needs. They are the type of people who would never ask for money, no matter how badly they need it. That said, they are the people who show up when you need someone—the people who will show up without being asked to. They are kind, giving friends who do their best to help others and, now, they need our help.

Anything you can spare will go directly to helping cover monthly bills, copays, nutritional supplements, groceries, gas to/from medical appointments, etc. I cannot fathom the worry this diagnosis brings to their family and helping to relieve their financial commitments would be monumental in aiding Dan's treatment and recovery.
