You can't make this stuff up... But YOU CAN HELP!!!
Hello, for those who may be receiving this through a shared message, my name is Molly (Waldron) LaMora. I am starting a GoFundMe to raise money for my dear high school friend Jenny and her fiancé Dan, who are in grave need due to TWO heartbreaking Cancer diagnoses.
Their story...
My friend Dan Ezzy is fighting for his life, having received a terminal cancer diagnosis several months ago. Unfortunately, his treatment was delayed due to a comedy of errors, a tale too common. He has Stage 4 Prostate Cancer that has metastasized to other areas, including his bones and lungs. Dan is a self-employed contractor who has been unable to work for over 10 months.
I will try my best not to make this a novel, though truth be told, despite odds that most would crumble under... this truly is a love story that novels are made of.
I met Dan through Jenny (Miller) Coulon about five years ago. Jenny sent Dan to my rescue when a shoddy contractor failed to connect the water to my shower inside the wall! That was only one of many times he took time out of his busy schedule to repair poor and even dangerous work done by other "professionals." He is a good, kind man... and truth be told... that is only the tip of the iceberg.
What warmed my soul was watching him care for Jenny. You see, Jenny has been living with a progressive form of Multiple Sclerosis for 30+ years. She has suffered in silence for decades with little support... Until Dan.
MS has taken a great toll, leaving her in constant pain and bedridden for days on end. She has lost much of her mobility, with debilitating acute exacerbations caused by these immune-related injuries. Despite this, she is a bright light... A light, Dan fell in love with instantly... as did Jenny with Dan. A love most of us dream of... I've watched Dan help her out of the car and carry her on his back so she could visit with me on a good day. She is the love of his life, and he hers!
They moved back here to be closer to family and bought a house a few years ago, a home they are now preparing to sell due to this change in their financial circumstances. Dan has worked tirelessly to make their home handicapped accessible and more manageable for Jenny. They have been trying to live off Jenny's small disability check.
Dan is receiving treatment at UVM, Burlington, with a recent hospitalization. As if it couldn't get worse... while attempting to go visit Dan, Jenny and her beloved service dog, Yoda, had a fall after he stepped on something, slicing his paw open, leaving them both unable to get up... Luckily, our friend Becky was nearby and able to get them to the vet, where Yoda had to spend the night... Now adding a vet bill.
Unfortunately, there is more...
In addition to Jenny's exacerbations from her MS, which can last for days and even months, she was having great difficulty breathing. Her insurance only covers hospital stays and ER visits, so she can't make regular doctor appointments due to cost. Fast-forward through all that, and Jenny gets a diagnosis of Small Cell Carcinoma... Lung Cancer! I said you can't make this up...
Despite it all, they are determined to fight for their health and each other.
If you know Jenny and Dan, you know they are givers. I remember years ago when Jenny collected people's extra plastic shopping bags to weave into sleeping mats for the homeless. She became a minister and went into prisons to counsel inmates. I could go on and on, and I invite y'all to add your Dan and Jenny story in the comments. They are true blue!
Now it's our turn... Let’s come together with our love, prayers, and support for Dan and Jenny during this tough time. The money raised will go toward their medical, travel, and living expenses. It is my prayer that we can allow them to receive the medical treatment they need without having to sell their home. Every little bit helps, so if you can, please donate—no amount is too small!
Your support means the world, and I hope we blow the roof off this Goal!
❤️ Thank you... And God bless you!
