Help Dan Althouse Kick Cancer's Ass!

Hi! We are the Younker family and we are trying to raise funds for our dear brother, Daniel Althouse. Over the past 9 months, Dan experienced unexplained weight loss of 70 lbs, what was believed to be late-onset diabetes that was not responding to insulin. After that diagnosis he had a hospitalization for pancreatitis. During that initial hospital stay, tests revealed a large tumor on the pancreas. A biopsy later confirmed a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. Dan has endured several hospitalizations over the last few weeks due to extreme pain and complications. The tumor is inoperable due to it's size, but the disease appears to be contained to just the pancreas. Chemotherapy will begin this week with hopes of shrinking the tumor, making surgery possible in the future.

Many of you know that Dan and Melissa were on the brink of living out their dream of traveling the country. Melissa was to retire in June; they had the truck and the trailer purchased and even their routes in place. In an instant, everything has been shattered. More than that, everything is now in jeopardy.

Dan now has the fight of his lifetime ahead of him. The fight against cancer is multifaceted. While it's obvious that it demands will and grit to battle against the tumor, it also requires all of their time, energy, and more money than they can liquidate over the next year. They are in the process of draining their savings and retirement accounts and selling their assets and beginning disability. The reality is that these actions will not come close to what it is going to financially require. Melissa and Dan will not be able to work full-time through treatment. It pains them deeply to have to rely on others. There simply is no other way to make ends meet.
