Hi, my name is Damon and I’m fundraising to help pay medical bills relating to a Necrotizing Fasciitis infection I caught that destroyed my left foot. Unbeknownst to me while walking around Los Angeles in early December 2023 on a trip, I was infected with the bacteria and carried it home to Arkansas. Falling ill upon my return, I struggled with other health issues relating to diabetes before the infection became apparent. I was able to get to UAMS Medical Center on New Years Eve. They saved my life. 1 in 3 people die from the infection even with surgery. I am one of the lucky ones that lived.
However I only have a part-time job right now, a small personal insurance policy that the premium cost has skyrocketed, and have been a live-in caregiver for nine out of the last fourteen years with little income and no savings. I am ineligible for unemployment benefits, have been denied Medicare, and have lost my SSDI benefits. My Medicare benefits are in limbo. My medical bills are unexpected and enormous. I have vey little means to pay for them on my own. The creditors keep calling and making demands. That is why I am asking for help.
Funds raised will be used to:
1. Pay off my $40,000 ER bill.
2. Pay off my $5000 in doctor visit bills.
3. Pay off my $2700 medical insurance deductible.
4. Pay for the $3000 cost of my artificial leg.
5. Pay for the $300 cost of my orthopedic shoes.
At 51 years old I never thought I would bee in this situation but am trying my best to deal with being a rare survivor of one of the deadliest pathogens in the world. So please help me if you can. Any and all donations will be greatly appreciated. If you cannot donate please like and share the link to the campaign. Thank you for your time and generosity.
Sincerely,
Damon D. Brown
