Help Damini Repair Her Home: Urgent Aid Needed

Hi everyone, my name is Damini and I am fundraising for the repair of my home. During the Atlanta snowstorm, a tree fell and pierced through my roof, damaging the integrity of my bathroom and bedroom walls as well, with damages gradually increasing as water and snow collect inside. I love my home and have lived here for seven years with my beloved animals. This event was traumatic and unexpected and has left us in unsafe living conditions. I am completely heartbroken and overwhelmed by this burden.

My landlord has been extremely neglectful, ignoring multiple attempts to reach out about this urgent matter. I have stressed the safety hazard this has posed and that this was a natural disaster completely out of my control, but have gone ignored.

I immediately contacted the police and fire department due to the potential fire and electrical hazards, but they did not intervene or provide any resources, stating that this is a landlord responsibility due to occurring on private property.

I cannot wait another day for my landlords to drag their feet, so I am raising funds for the repair of my roof, walls, and replacement of damaged items and furniture. It is not my responsibility as a tenant to repair the home, but I would like to get the ball rolling and be able to have them reimburse the repairs, as Georgia law permits this. Additionally, support is needed for legal expenses, cost of temporary relocation and/or displacement, and living expenses for myself and my animals due to the added pressure this has created.

I am a speech-language pathology Master's student preparing to start my first clinical practicum on January 20th, in which I will provide speech therapy services to public high school students with language deficits and cognitive disabilities. I have been so excited to start this part of my journey and make a difference, but the stress of this incident has taken a toll and left me under immense pressure.

My home is not only a part of my livelihood, but also that of my brother/best friend Joshua, my adorable cats Sage, Esmeralda, Kojima, and Pearl, as well as my angelic dog Aura. I have to ensure that we are all safe and thank you so much for your help and consideration in a dark time.
