Damien is my husband, a devoted father of four and a proud Army veteran who has always put others before himself. At just 34, he was unexpectedly diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease, a rare neurodegenerative disease that is like having Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and ALS all at once. For months, doctors believed his symptoms were frontotemporal dementia caused by traumatic brain injuries from his time as an Army Ranger. The diagnosis has been a shock for our family, and we’re doing everything we can to make the most of every moment together.

Damien’s number one bucket list wish is to see Spain play in the World Cup in the US. Soccer has always been a huge part of his life—he’s coached countless youth teams and inspired so many kids in the communities we’ve lived in, from Las Vegas to Alabama. Spain’s match in Atlanta falls on Father’s Day, which is also our son’s 11th birthday, making this opportunity even more meaningful. I’ve entered every ticket lottery, but the only available options are expensive hospitality packages. With Damien’s health, he can’t travel alone and would need his brother and our son with him for support and to share this special experience. If possible, it would be a dream come true for our whole family of six to go together.

We’re asking for help to purchase legitimate tickets through FIFA and, if possible, cover accommodations. Damien has never asked for anything for himself—he’s served our country in two wars and given so much to others. Any support to help make this dream come true would mean the world to our family. Thank you for reading our story and considering helping us create a memory that will last a lifetime.
