My family is currently enduring a crisis right now. My mother went into the hospital due to an eye infection and during her hospital stay was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. Less than two months later my husband, Damian Simms went into the hospital for shortness of breath and was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).
When we found out my husband had AML, he was immediately admitted to the hospital. There he stayed for two months. You have no idea how this has impacted our loving family and mostly our two children. My husband is only 37 years old and will have to undergo treatment over the next year. When we went to the Oncology Specialist, we were told that there are around twenty strands of AML. He has one of the most aggressive ones that will never be cured or stay in remission without a bone marrow transplant. After another round of aggressive chemotherapy, the doctor would like to complete a bone marrow transplant. Damian will be out of work for at least a year and I want that to be the least of his worries.
This has been devastating both mentally and financially. We have medical insurance but it will not pay the full amount of this transplant. I have tried to handle everything, medical and daily expenses. I am asking for assistance with Damian’s medical bills and loss of income while he fights for his life.
Thanks for your support and we ask that you keep us in your thoughts and prayers.
