Help Damian fight cancer

On the 20th January 2022, our son Damian Jones received the news that no family wants to face- as a 38 year old father of four (Zane, Angus, Lennox and Peyton), he was diagnosed with a rare form of Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

NB: Due to the Go Fund Me withdrawal requirements, it now states that this fundraiser is on behalf of Cristian even though the funds are for Damian and his children. This anomaly is because the account was opened by Cristian-and he will be administrator of the funds raised. 

Diagnosed in Warrnambool (Victoria), he was quickly airlifted to the Andrew Love Cancer Centre in Geelong- where they ascertained that the cancer had progressed to such an extent that Damian would require at least 6 months of chemotherapy. He has already had surgery to insert a feeding tube and a stent in his throat due to a hole in his oesophagus. He will be unable to eat for some time. He will have to have his treatment in Geelong due to the complications involved with having the stent and feeding tube in situ. Damian will not be able to work for the foreseeable future

 

Damian is currently unable to have visitors due to the seriousness of his situation- although the hospital recently allowed a visit from Angus (Gus) on compassionate grounds . Gus lives with his Dad and is pictured here during the visit helping Damian shave his head before losing his hair from the chemo.

 

To add to the awful timing of the diagnosis ( there is never a good time for a cancer diagnosis!), Damian had recently commenced a new job and was desperately searching for a rental for he and Gus-quite a challenge in the current housing market! As such, Damian has no sick leave available to support him through this time.

 

Over the past 25 or so years, Damian has been heavily involved with various sporting clubs in the Bendigo and Warrnambool areas-as player, coach and committee member.

 

Those who know Damian will attest that while he is fiercely independent himself, he is always the first to lend a hand to others. Now it is time for him to receive the type of support he has always provided.
