Hello everyone,

My name is Dameka Black, and I’m in my final stretch of law school at the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law, set to graduate in May 2026. Becoming an attorney has been my lifelong dream — one driven by my passion for justice, advocacy, and service to others.

In 2024, I made the difficult decision to stop working so I could focus entirely on finishing law school and preparing for the Virginia Bar Exam in February. As a single parent of two amazing children, this journey has been both challenging and deeply rewarding.

During law school, I’ve worked hard to turn my passion into action. I completed the General Practice Clinic, where I successfully helped a single father gain custody of his three young daughters. I also served in the Immigration and Human Rights Clinic, where I helped a family obtain their green cards and even had a client’s removal proceedings closed. Alongside my coursework and clinic work, I’ve held student leadership positions all four years, striving to make a positive impact within my school community.

Now, as I approach graduation and prepare for the bar, I’m reaching out for support to help cover bar prep courses, bar exam fees, and graduation expenses. These costs add up quickly, and any contribution — big or small — will go directly toward helping me focus on studying, graduating, and achieving my dream of becoming an attorney dedicated to serving others.
