My friend is selling her house in Oakland and she would LOVE to sell it to me at a discounted price. All I need is the downpayment. I've started this campaign to raise the downpayment. Thanks to all your generosity, I've already raised $5,000. I also have a couple thousand saved. I'm close.

I'm asking because I rarely ask for help. I hadn't planned to buy a house yet AND the price in such a competitive market is too amazing to pass up. This opportunity just feels right, so I thought I'd ask.

Gentrification has changed the face of communities like Oakland. As a Black woman and single-parent, I will be a small part of keeping Black, Brown, and Indigenous families in Oakland. Because I believe in the power of generosity and collective giving, I know it is possible to raise this downpayment.
