Help Dallas Return to College This Fall
Donation protected
Dallas is a nonbinary 20-year-old with EDS, a connective tissue disorder, currently staying with a friend's family in Atlanta, Georgia. They began college at Warren Wilson College in North Carolina this past Fall, immediately finding a supportive friend group and thriving in classes. Unfortunately, they had to withdraw before the second semester started due to their parents withdrawing their financial support in October due to Dallas being upfront about being nonbinary and being committed to returning after Hurricane Helene. Unable to get a job due to Hurricane Helene's severe impact on the college's Swannanoa River valley, they could not raise the money needed to contribute to their tuition, on top of their parents being unwilling to cosign a student loan or help cover the cost.
In January Dallas was at risk of becoming homeless after withdrawing because they had been living in campus housing.
Their goal is to get back on track with their education this upcoming Fall 2025 after this disruption, but the school requires them to pay off the tuition that their parents refused to help cover from Fall 2024. Dallas has now established their independence and applied for Federal aid and scholarships that will cover their upcoming tuition but to do that, they need to raise a total of $6,396 to clear their student account.
Please contribute so that this disappointing disruption is just a momentary hiccup in their college career and they can return to the very supportive Warren Wilson community. Upon their return, they plan on declaring a double major in Art, with a focus on Film, and Creative Writing.
