In 1999 he, and his wife (Dr. Mollie Fry), opened the California Medical Research Center, in Cool California, to help medical cannabis patients obtain a recommendation and legal advice so that they could stay safe under Prop 215.
In 2000 he ran for EDC District Attorney to force the discussion of allowing patients to cultivate for their medical needs.
In 2001 Dale and Mollie's home and office were raided by a joint task force of the DEA and El Dorado County Sheriff's Department.
In 2005 both Dale and Mollie were arrested for cultivation of 106 plants (grown over 3 years) and conspiracy to distribute medical cannabis to sick patients.
In 2007 the couple were tried and convicted in federal court and in 2008 they were sentenced to 5 years in federal prison, which was the minimum mandatory sentence.
In 2011 they left their family behind and entered the federal prison system. http://www.unitedstatesvmarijuana.com/court-cases/unitedstatesvdaleschaferandmolliefry
In 2015 the couple were released from federal lockup and transferred to home confinement. Then, after nearly 2 years of probation, Dale was released from the federal probation program and allowed to return to his advocacy on behalf of the cannabis community.
Today Dale is using his law license and working tirelessly to assist medical patients while overseeing the transition of several projects into the regulated commercial cannabis market in El Dorado County.
To thank Dale for his sacrifice and continued assistance to the medical cannabis community we have set up this fundraiser.
