Dale, Teddy, Ted, Pa or as we call him Dad.
On the 11th of October Dad & Mum’s world was thrown upside down.
After being in some pain for a few weeks and the pain becoming worse, Dad finally went to the doctor.
The doctor sent him to have blood test’s done and upon the results called and told him he needed to go to the hospital asap.
That night Dad received the diagnosis of Leukaemia, after further testing we now know that Dad has Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia B cell Philadelphia positive, the 2 combined being an extremely rare condition seen in adults.
Dad was admitted to his local hospital in Ballarat on the 11th of October where immediate treatment began, but was transferred to Geelong on the 14th of October for the intensive treatment he required.
Dad is only 53yrs old, has a wife, 4 children and 10 grandchildren.
He has worked his whole life to support his family and has always gone out of his way to support other’s in their time of need.
With Dad set to receive treatment in Geelong hospital for at least the next 6 months undergoing chemotherapy and treatment, Mum will be driving from Ballarat to Geelong daily to support Dad throughout his treatment. The importance of Dad having Mum by his side throughout his treatment and eventual recovery cannot be understated. Unfortunately this means that Dad and Mum's income has now ceased however bills, petrol and living expenses have not.
We have therefore created this page not only in the hopes that Mum & Dad can be relieved of some of the financial pressures in this tough time, but allow them to focus fully on dad’s current intensive treatment, and long road ahead with treatment continuing as an outpatient of the Ballarat hospital for at least the next 2-3yrs.
We thank everyone for their support and appreciate any donation big or small.
