My name is Dala Kongphan, and I have been a farmer in Waialua since 2020. Farming is not just my livelihood—it’s my passion and the way I support my family. On our 4-acre farm, we grow bitter melon, sugar cane, lemon grass, bananas, sequa, cigar flowers, ti leaf, and okra. These crops are our main source of income and the heart of our daily life.
In March 2026, the Kona Low Storm changed everything. Our entire property was flooded, and I had to swim out to safety. My brother’s car was lost to the floodwaters, and the structure we lived in is now filled with mud and unlivable. We live here part time, but this land is our home and our hope. The storm didn’t just take our crops—it destroyed our tractor, irrigation systems, broke our deck, and ruined all the equipment we rely on, including generators and weed whackers. The loss is overwhelming, and it’s hard to see a way forward on my own.
The funds raised will go directly toward immediate and urgent needs. Your generosity will help us rebuild not just our property, but our lives. It’s really difficult to ask for help, but I am so grateful for any support you can give. Thank you for standing with us during this challenging time.
