Dakota is 22 years old and lives in Portland, OR with two roommates and her black cat named Binx. It has been such a joy watching Dakota blossom into adulthood over the last few years as she explored the big city and settled into her job at a local bakery. Last Spring, Dakota decided to pursue a BA in Business Administration and started her college journey at Portland Community College with the intention of getting her AS and transferring to Portland State University for her BA.
The diagnosis of breast cancer came as quite a shock. We do not yet know all the ways this cancer will impact Dakota's life, but her courage in facing this challenge is truly inspiring. Dakota's current treatment plan involves 6 months of chemotherapy, followed by a lumpectomy and radiation, followed by reconstructive surgery, and possibly 5-10 years of hormone therapy. We are also working with a naturopathic oncologist who will provide a supplemental treatment plan of natural remedies and procedures aimed at minimizing the damage from chemotherapy and radiation.
We are fortunate that Dakota lives in an area with easy access to advanced Oncologic Care. However, the financial burden of treatment can be overwhelming. That's why we are coming together to raise funds to support Dakota's medical and living expenses to help alleviate some of the stress during this difficult time. Any contribution, no matter how small, can make a significant difference in Dakota's journey to recovery.

How your donations may be used:
- $25 - Pay for gas to drive to and from weekly treatments
- $50 - Pay for over the counter medicines to help with pain and nausea
- $100 - Pay for 3 weeks of supplements prescribed by Dakota's naturopathic oncologist to help reduce the side effects of chemo. These supplements are not covered by health insurance.
- $260 - Pay for one vitamin C infusion. Dakota will be receiving weekly infusions of high dose vitamin C to build her immune system and help reduce damage to her body from chemo. These infusions are not covered by insurance.
- $350 - Pay for two weeks of groceries. Dakota is required to maintain a very specific diet of all organic meats and produce that are low in simple sugars and carbs
- $750 - Pay for 3 weeks of vitamin C infusions. Dakota will be receiving weekly infusions of high dose vitamin C to build her immune system and help reduce damage to her body from chemo. These infusions are not covered by insurance.
- $800 - Pay for ongoing medical and prescription costs, share of cost after insurance
- $1,000 - Pay for one month of rent and utilities
