Help Dakota Walk Again: Support His Recovery

Dakota, our beloved 4-year-old German Shepherd, is an irreplaceable part of our family. This past Saturday, our worst nightmare became a reality—we found him paralyzed from the neck down. In complete shock, we rushed him to the hospital, where he was quickly referred to a neurosurgeon for further evaluation.

After an MRI and multiple tests, the vet discovered that Dakota had severely bruised a disc in his upper spine, causing his paralysis. His road to recovery will be long and challenging, but with time, extensive physical therapy, and constant care, there is hope that Dakota will walk again.

Losing our last two pets, tragically in recent years has been heartbreaking. We are beyond grateful that Dakota survived this. Dakota is showing incredible resilience. He has started to show small movements in his front paws, and he remains attentive with his eyes and ears. His spirit is strong—he’s alert, engaged, and showing the determination to fight through this. His willingness and motivation to get better give us so much hope.
