I’m starting this GoFundMe for my best friend, Dakota — one of the most selfless, loving, and strong women I know. She’s an incredible mother to her beautiful children Haedyn, Carson, and Harper, and a devoted wife to Chris. Dakota has always been the kind of person who puts everyone else before herself. She’s the first to help a friend in need, the one who shows up no matter what, and the heart of her family.
Over the last 4 years, Dakota has been in and out of the doctor's and hospitals, having multiple procedures done from ultrasounds, CAT scans, MRIs, etc., and we have been thankful enough to find some answers while still needing more answers now for her new condition.
Recently, Dakota has been facing a health issue that has deeply affected her confidence and emotional well-being. It’s been heartbreaking to watch someone so full of light and strength struggle through something that’s out of her control. Even as she deals with this challenge, she continues to care for everyone around her with grace and love. This diagnosis she just received is causing her to lose all of her hair slowly and now very rapidly, and she is sadly more than likely going to have to shave her head and get a wig with how fast it's progressing. (There is a picture of her hair from the shower)
There are treatments that may help correct or lessen the issues, but they come at a cost — around $4,500 just to begin, and that’s only to see if the treatment will even work. Unfortunately, insurance doesn’t cover it, and it’s become a heavy financial burden for her family.
Dakota has overcome so many challenges in her life, always with courage and hope. Now it’s our turn to be there for her the way she’s always been there for others. Every donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward her treatments and healing journey.
Even if you can’t donate, sharing this page or sending her words of encouragement would mean the world. Together, we can help Dakota feel supported, loved, and a little less stressed.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read and share her story.
With love and gratitude, Darcy
