My wife and I just had to experience an emergency C-section due to unexplained circumstances regarding baby Dakota Jr. He was experiencing heart rate drops in utero and wasn’t taking practice breaths or making any movements, so they decided it was necessary to remove him immediately. The doctors said that if they hadn’t done the emergency C-section, he would’ve passed in utero, and my wife saved his life by going to the ER when she felt something may be wrong. Unfortunately, we haven’t had the time to acquire suitable funds to support his growth and time in the NICU. My wife has been out of work for a few months for pregnancy. I work full-time but only have FMLA, so I can take a couple of weeks or so for crucial skin-to-skin time, but it’s unpaid time off. I have to pay several hundred just to pay my health insurance for FMLA, as well as the rest of the financial burdens that life throws our way.
