Hi, my name is Melissa, and I’m raising funds for my son, Dakota.

Dakota is 20 years old and one of the kindest souls you’ll ever meet. He’s a true animal whisperer—he bonds instantly with every creature he encounters. He’s also a musical enigma, often found strumming his guitar or lost in the rhythm of a new melody. A second-degree black belt in taekwondo, and he’s spent years training in MMA and Jujitsu. He’s passionate about nature and finds peace near any body of water. Most of all, he’s a loving big brother who always puts his family first.

In the fall of 2024, Dakota was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. It was a devastating shock—he had to step away from everything he loves. His symptoms were intense: he had a football-sized mass near his heart that caused severe chest pain and shortness of breath. He lost over 60 pounds in just a few months, and his energy was completely depleted. Seeing my child who was always so vibrant and thriving, to exhausted and frail was heartbreaking.

After enduring months of chemotherapy, we believed the worst was behind us. Dakota was finally excited about his future! But just two months after finishing treatment, we learned the cancer had returned—and spread.

Now, Dakota faces an even more aggressive battle, including more surgeries, immunotherapy, and the possibility of a bone marrow transplant, and a stem cell transplant. Through it all, his strength and spirit have remained resilient.

As his mom, my mission isn’t just to help him survive—I want to help him heal. Emotionally, spiritually, and physically. Dakota is exploring alternative therapies to support his healing alongside traditional treatments, including high-quality integrative care and specialized nutritional support. Unfortunately, these life-supporting options are not covered by insurance and can cost between $60,000–$80,000.
