Just 8 months ago this fight against cancer began for my son, Dakota Sebastian Green, who was only 23 y.o. at the time and diagnosed with Testicular cancer. Within 4 days he was having surgery to remove the tumor and we prayed that would be the end of it. While he was still recovering from the surgery, his tumor markers continued to rise significantly and quickly. We celebrated his 24th birthday in April, knowing he was about to start some pretty intensive chemotherapy. We knew he had it in him with God by his side and his family and friends who are true prayer warriors. July 5th we celebrated the end of chemo and continued to pray for good results as he would be followed carefully for the next 5 years at the least.
Exactly 4 weeks later he went in for CT scans and the results showed that the cancer has metastasized through the lymph system and he has 2 significantly large lymph nodes in his abdomen that need to be removed. This news shook every bit of me. As I started to pray, the word "endurance" came to my head. It did feel like we had just finished a sprint, only to find out we are in the middle of a marathon. But I knew I needed endurance in my faith and my prayers as well. I know, personally, the amazing blessings that are poured out onto us when we keep our eyes on God during trials and sufferings. He only wants to bless us and protect us through these hard times. Please help us bless Dakota while he is going through this next battle with cancer.
His surgery is scheduled Wed Sept 28 at Parkland. They are planning to perform the surgery robotically to avoid major blood vessels and nerves that could cause damage or bleeding. The surgery will take about 7 hours and he will be in the hospital for 3 days. His recovery will take atleast 2 months before he can lift more than 10 lbs and then we will have to go from there. Caroline, his fiance, will be his main support as she has been, but she will be missing a lot of work as well, especially the first month. Please help us raise enough to pay their monthly bils for 2 months and the percentage that Parkland will not cover of the surgery. We are so thankful that Parkland took him on as a patient since he did not have medical insurance but Dakota does work full time (when he can) so Parkland only covers a percentage of his bills and we are not sure what that percentage will be yet. Most of all, please join us in prayer for a full recovery for this young man.
