Help Dakota and Her Children on Their Journey to Healing
Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,
Our beloved Dakota has faced more than most of us can imagine, enduring a journey filled with unimaginable pain, courage, and determination. Over the past few months, she has defied all odds—not once, but three times—surviving near-death experiences, including a recent four-day stay in palliative care where we were told to prepare for the worst. Dakota’s miraculous will to live has been nothing short of inspiring.
At one point, Dakota was put into an induced coma, and while she has fought her way back to us, her recovery is far from over. She is now temporarily paralyzed, limiting her ability to move, and faces the difficult task of relearning basic skills like walking and typing. Every small victory is a testament to her strength, but this fight is not one she can win alone.
Dakota remains in St. Catharines General Hospital, working tirelessly to regain enough strength to be reassessed for a liver transplant in London—a transplant that offers hope for a brighter future. While the exact cause of her liver failure is still under investigation, doctors believe an autoimmune disorder or other medical condition is at play.
Throughout all of this, Dakota’s two young children have been her greatest source of strength. Their laughter and love give her the will to keep pushing forward. They are blessed with an amazing father who continues to be a steady source of support. But, like many families, we are facing financial hardships as we navigate this journey together.
Once Dakota is cleared for transplant, she will need to stay in London for up to a month, attending daily hospital visits for follow-up care. This will come with significant financial challenges, including travel costs, medical expenses, and ensuring her children’s needs are met while she focuses on her recovery.
Dakota recently relocated from Sauble Beach to be closer to family and medical supports, but she and her children are currently living in our basement as we work to secure a stable and suitable home for them.
We are asking for your help to ease the financial burdens Dakota is facing. Your donations will help cover:
Travel and accommodation costs for Dakota’s hospital stay in London
Medical expenses and necessities for her recovery
Support for her children while Dakota focuses on healing
Securing a safe home for Dakota and her kids
Dakota has faced more challenges in these few months than many of us face in a lifetime. Her journey is one of immense struggle, but also incredible hope. With your support, we can lighten her load, ensure her children feel safe and secure, and help her take the steps she needs toward healing and independence.
Your kindness—whether through a donation, sharing this fundraiser, or keeping Dakota and her family in your thoughts and prayers—will mean the world to her and to us. Together, we can give Dakota and her children the future they deserve.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,
Dakota's Family
