My name is Dajsha, and I’m a 21-year-old from West Virginia. I’ve always tried to stay positive and keep my faith strong, but recently I was diagnosed with keratoconus, a progressive eye disease that’s made my world feel a lot smaller. My doctors say I need a cross-linking procedure and a corneal transplant to save my vision, but my insurance won’t cover these critical treatments. To make things even harder, I have to travel three hours to Morgantown for every appointment and surgery, and there’s nowhere nearby for me to stay. The doctors want to see me every 2-3 days after surgery to make sure I don’t develop an infection, which means I can’t just drive back and forth each time.

The costs are overwhelming—between the medical procedures, travel, and finding a place to stay, it’s more than I can manage on my own. I never imagined facing the possibility of losing my sight at 21. This experience has been heartbreaking and painful in so many ways, but I’m holding onto hope and the support of my community.
