Help Daisy Walk Again: Support Her Therapy
Donation protected
Hi world. This is Daisy.
Daisy is my soul dog. I’ve heard you only get one.
We have been together since she was 3 months old, and she’s currently pushing 13 and a half.
I figured before we get to the point of this GoFundMe, it was worth it to tell you how we got here.
When she was 3, we unfortunately lived next to some terrible dog owners. These people left their German Shepherd outside (#neglected) all day, everyday - and it was AGGRESSIVE.
One day, Daisy was outside in the yard and all I heard was screaming. The neighbor’s dog had grabbed her paw underneath the fence, pulled it back and forth, and completely gloved her leg. We went to three different animal hospitals before the angels from the UF Small Animal Hospital accepted her for care. They came into the room and told me we had two options - they could try and save her leg, but she would likely get sepsis and die - or - we could amputate it. Obviously, I chose the latter.
The healing process was not without its struggles. She popped stitches - more than once. Had internal infections - more than once. But after it all, she has absolutely THRIVED. Nothing could keep this girl down.
Fast forward to 9.5 years later - about a month ago. Daisy was out walking, let out a scream and her back right leg gave out. She blew her CCL.
Due to her age, surgery is not an option for us. Physical therapy is recommended, but the quotes we’ve received have been upwards of $5000.
someone said it was worth a shot to start one of these, so that’s where we are.
Daisy has been with me through the death of my father, pregnancy, divorce - every major moment in my 20s and into my 30s. She deserves the absolute best of the time that we have left together and I will do anything to make that possible - whether that’s physical therapy, a brace, or a wheelchair.
thanks for reading.
