Help Daisy Support the Health of Her Mother in Belize
Donation protected
Dear Friends and Community,
We are writing on behalf of our incredible colleague, mentor, and friend, Daisy. Whether it’s working to promote community health, showing up for local organizations, or mentoring students, she’s the kind of person who always shows up for others, especially her parents. She is a dedicated advocate, community ally, daughter, mother, wife, and friend who continues to be a light in the lives of so many. Now, we hope that we can be a light in hers. Daisy is in urgent need of financial support to take care of her mother and be able to schedule and pay for her surgery in Belize.
Over the past few years, Daisy’s parents in Belize, have faced multiple, serious health threats. Daisy’s mother underwent knee surgery last year that has now failed, leaving her unable to walk without pain and in desperate need of a second costly operation. Her father recently survived a severe heart attack which required round-the-clock care and long-term support. Daisy has taken on the immense responsibility of coordinating their care, paying for high medical expenses (as her parents are without insurance), communicating with doctors, and traveling to Belize to directly care for her parents.
Now, unable to travel and in urgent need of financial support to provide the care needed for her mother, we are hoping to raise funds to help support her family through this crisis. Funds will go directly to pay for her mother’s surgery.
Daisy is always thinking about the best ways to show up for others, lead with love, and center justice in everything she does. Whether in her personal life or her work, she approaches every challenge with intention, care, and deep insight. Daisy is a devoted mother herself to a wonderful child and continues to support her while managing this crisis. One example of Daisy’s character is how she responded after her father’s heart attack. Daisy immediately traveled to Belize to support and take care of her family. Daisy’s parents have long dedicated themselves to the management of a cane field, a demanding profession that supports not only their family, but their community. In between caring for her father , Daisy worked in the cane fields to ensure the business was supported. More recently, 12 acres of their crop were deliberately burned down in an act of destruction causing loss in financial support and a heightened physical labor demand to her parents. Despite the immense stress, she handles everything with strength, humility, and deep compassion.
Right now, Daisy is facing an urgent and painful combination of challenges — personally, professionally, and financially. We believe we can try to ease this burden and offer her the support she has so often given to others to help pay for her mother’s surgery. If you’re able to contribute, please know that every donation, makes a difference. If you can’t give financially, please consider sharing this campaign with your network to help spread the word.
With love and gratitude,
Hannah, Jeni, & Friends
