This past February, my best friend Tevia started fostering the sweetest rescue pittie named Daisy to help her through the loss of her dad. What started as a way to bring some joy into her life turned into a deep and inseparable bond — not just between Tevia and Daisy, but also with Tevia’s mom, who grew to fall in love with her too.
Then, in March, Tevia’s mom passed away suddenly. Daisy became Tevia’s rock through the grief — her best friend, always by her side to cheer her up and make her laugh. They are truly a match made in heaven. Despite an uncertain future, it was only inevitable that Tevia would officially adopt Daisy on July 16, fulfilling her mom’s wish.
But then Tevia's world was shook again. Just days after the adoption, Daisy had a serious emergency after swallowing a piece of clothing. It caused life-threatening damage to her intestines. She needed emergency surgery — and the next day, a second, even riskier surgery when she developed a severe infection and went septic. Her chances of survival were incredibly low.
But Daisy wasn’t ready to go. She made it through, surviving two intense surgeries, including the removal of over 3 feet of intestine, and is now recovering at Tevia's home.
While Tevia is extremely grateful Daisy survived, unfortunately this is far from over. Because Tevia had just adopted Daisy, the rescue is no longer responsible for any medical costs. Despite trying every avenue, no help came through. Tevia is rapidly running through the money her mom left her — savings meant to help her move out and start a new chapter — just trying to save Daisy’s life.
The total for both surgeries, emergency care, and ongoing recovery has now passed $20,000.
This is a nightmare situation for someone with the kindest soul, who only wanted to do the right thing. Daisy is goofy, cuddly, and full of love — and Tevia would go to the ends of the earth to keep her safe. But she needs help.
If you can donate anything at all — truly, even just a few dollars — it would mean the world to Tevia and Daisy. And if you can’t donate, sharing this page is also a huge help.
Please join in helping give Tevia and Daisy the healing, peace, and fresh start they both deserve.
With so much love and gratitude,
