Our radiant friend Daisy Mae has just received a life-altering diagnosis. Doctors discovered she has an extremely rare brain disease that places her at immediate risk of stroke. Daisy was immediately rushed to a larger hospital, held there for several days, evaluated by specialists, and now faces urgent brain bypass surgery.
It is nothing short of a miracle that she has not already suffered a major stroke, although tests have revealed that she has had several small strokes already, unbeknownst to her. The arteries in Daisy’s brain have been too small since birth, forcing tiny, fragile vessels to work overtime just to keep blood flowing. Those vessels are at their breaking point, and surgery is the only way to protect her.
The procedure requires one of only two neurosurgeons on the West Coast qualified to perform it; meaning Daisy has now been transferred to San Diego and is being prepped to undergo not one, but two major brain surgeries.
Through all of this, Daisy has remained remarkably calm and focused. True to who she is, she continues to bring light, humor, and encouragement to those around her. Anyone who knows Daisy knows her as a source of joy and inspiration. Her business, DeLure Models, is a reflection of her heart: uplifting women, building confidence, and celebrating community. Now, it’s Daisy who needs us to uplift her.
The road ahead will be overwhelming physically, emotionally, and financially. The cost of hospital stays, travel, and the procedures she urgently needs is staggering. But together, we can help carry this burden so Daisy can focus on healing.
If Daisy has ever brightened your life with her laughter, her positivity, or her unwavering support, now is the time to return that love. Please consider donating to ease the financial stress of this journey and give Daisy the peace of mind she needs as she prepares for surgery.
Every contribution, no matter the size, helps bring Daisy closer to recovery and allows her to keep being the bright, unstoppable force she already is!
Additional Notes:
Daisy has been diagnosed with Moyamoya Disease. It is affecting both the right and left sides of her brain. The right side is apparently more severe than the left, so the first surgery will be on the right side of her brain.
Any friends who have connections to places to stay in San Diego - please reach out to Daisy or myself as she has family & loved ones who have flown in to be with her throughout her procedures and are currently in hotels / seeking alternative options in order to be nearby as she recovers.
