Help Daisy Kick Cancer’s Ass

Hello everyone,

Daisy to us is like oxygen, without her there is no living. She is the light of our world, our every existence, the being our whole world revolves around, the love of our life. On 14 Jan 2026, our world stopped turning. We found out the most horrible news that anyone could ever hear. Our beautiful girl went from completely healthy and playing on the 13th to the next morning collapsing. We rushed her to the vet and our sweet baby girl Daisy was bleeding internally from a mass that ruptured on her spleen. She had to be rushed from our primary vet to UC Davis Veterinary Hospital for emergency surgery to have her spleen and the tumor removed. The most gut-wrenching news, they diagnosed her with cancer. Daisy has a long road ahead of her with many trials and tribulations on the way to getting healthy again. Her future holds recovering from this sizable surgery, many oncology appointments, 1 of 2 chemotherapy options, intense medication and supplement regiments estimated to be 6-8 high cost medications, regular follow-up vet visits and cancer nutrition appointments, bloodwork, CT scans, testing to monitor her progress, and likely future emergency vet visits for her to fight this cancer’s ass, keep her healthy, give her the best life, and keep her happy and comfortable.

For us, Daisy is more than a pet, she isn’t even a family member, she is truly our guardian angel! She is our whole world, our everything, and so much more than mere words can ever describe. She came into my life as a puppy just over 10 years ago, just a few short months before I experienced a major trauma while in the military and developed PTSD. Somehow, she managed to train herself to become my service dog, despite never having undergone any training. She alerts me of impending PTSD episodes or immediately responds in full-blown PTSD symptomatic episodes, and we’ve discovered the only thing capable and persistent enough to pull me out of it. This isn’t easy to admit but Daisy has also ended up saving my life on a few occasions from suicide due to PTSD.

Daisy is so much more than that to our family though. She is everything to this family and we don’t know how to exist without her. She is our morning cuddle girl who snuggles with us every morning for about an hour, she leads our other dogs to let them know when it is time to go potty or when it is time to eat. When she is gone, they don’t know how to do any of these things on their own, because she leads and guides them and us every day. Her personality is intoxicating and she has full on conversations with us every single day. She loves to talk back to us with barks and always has to have the last word. She’ll give us legitimate hugs when she agrees, loves something, or when she wants us to know how much she loves us. Daisy is truly our sun, moon, and stars, and we don’t exist without her in our lives. She is our whole family’s personality.

Over the last 8 months, our family has fallen on unprecedented hard times. Last summer, I was diagnosed with Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency, a genetic condition that attacks your liver and lungs and in a lot of patients it is a terminal condition. For the rest of 2025, our time was spent at many specialists, running tests, doing procedures, trying to get in with other specialists, to see where my condition is and how badly it is or is not affecting my lungs and liver at this stage. All of this has come at a lot of costs to us. Additionally, Daisy had to undergo a major surgery in November 2025 to have her gallbladder removed because it was life threatening. We were terrified for her and the risks were high, yet we were so relieved when the surgery went successfully and she recovered so beautifully and fiercely. She has been doing so well.

Between my unfortunate diagnosis, Daisy’s big surgery in November that costed so heavily, and now, rushing Daisy to UC Davis to undergo a 2nd massive, even bigger life-saving emergency surgery to remove her mass and spleen, the costs have piled up and are crippling. Unfortunately, we have found ourselves unable to pay the costs required of her 2nd surgery, as well as the many costs racing ahead to us now. That cost doesn’t even factor in all the post-operative care and oncology care I mentioned above that she is going through and will continue to go through as we move forward. Without a doubt, our girl is worth everything and she has so much spunk and fight in her, has so much happy life ahead of her, she deserves to be comfortable and happy, and our family needs her! Our girl now has a long road ahead of her and we are doing everything we can on our end for funds, but for once we don’t know how to take care of her without your help. We never thought we would find ourselves in a situation where we would need to create a GoFundMe. However, life has shown us that in the blink of an eye, your entire life can change. We are in dire need of your support and appreciate any donation you can make to help us save our girl.

Please, if you can donate to help save our girls life, please do, as every dollar will make it possible for us to get her the care she desperately needs and live the life she deserves. We appreciate any donation you are willing to give to help us fight for our girl and help us pay for our girl’s surgery, recovery, many oncology and chemo treatments coming up, meds and so on. Any amount of support, $5, $10, $20, $50, whatever, will go a long way for our girl and for us. Every dollar will go directly to her surgery and cancer care! We are also appreciative of every prayer and well wishes we receive, and firmly believe in the power of prayer! Additionally, we humbly ask that you share our GoFundMe with as many people as you can, so that we can reach the largest audience possible to help save our girl’s life. We are eternally grateful! We will gladly be providing special thanks and regular updates on Daisy!
