Help Daisy & Felicia after their home burned

Donation protected
Tonight
I am sleeping in pajamas that are not mine.
For the last ten days I've been so depressed, I couldn't pull myself out of it.
I recognized it, I asked myself all the proper questions to determine why I felt so hopeless.

I couldn't come to a conclusion.

Until last night when I dragged Daisy out onto the porch in 34 degree weather, in the rain without a single thread of clothing on.
And then ran back upstairs into a burning building to grab her pants, then to run back up into the burning building to grab her shirt and coat.

No time to search for shoes, the smoke was rolling into my lungs and I couldn't see an arms length in front of me.

The neighbor carried a naked Daisy to my car for warmth while I kept running back inside.

It's been 26 hours now and I finally ate something and had a shower, when I finally concluded, I can have everything I need in life, and if I am not grateful, it can all be taken away from me in a single breath.

And now as I lay in a bed that's not mine, in pajamas that are not mine, in a home that's not mine, I am overly grateful for the people in my life that took immediate action to pull together and gather the basic necessities so we can feel love, safety, comfort, and compassion

I'm so ashamed for feeling hopeless when I had everything, 27 hours ago

But now I have nothing,  and I feel more grateful then ever before.

I can only trust this happened for a reason,

I feel like this is part of the plan, why else did Daisy and I survive last night?

Thank you Zion School District 6 for the pajamas I so graciously appreciate in this desperate time when I have nothing to wear.

Thank you Daisy for being so brave.

Thank you Paul for graciously opening your home to me tonight. And giving me clothes of your own to wear today.

Thank you Sabrina, Director of Spectrum Center Lake County Autism School for pulling clothes from your own child's drawers for Daisy.

Thank you Roxie for continuing to check on me every couple of hours while you're in your own emergency landing.

Thank you neighbor for carrying my unclothed child to my car for warmth and shelter from the rain.

Thank you Zion PD for comforting Daisy, giving her two blankets, and keeping her company in the squad car while I was interviewed by the fire chief.

Thank you to the fireman that was soaked and dripping in black water for bringing down 4 framed photos of my children while I stood barefoot in the rain..

Thank you Jack for getting me and Daisy a pizza tonight.

Thank you Nick for driving out to help me salvage a few items.

Thank you to my coworkers that gathered as many clothes and hygiene products they could.

Thank you Lauren for reaching out and being a great listener the past few months.

Thank you Dana for coordinating as much as you possibly could in the autism group.

Thank you God for allowing my family to survive this.

If ever I feel hopeless again, I'll always have this traumatic image of my daughter standing in the rain, naked while running back into a burning building.
The image is burned into my mind forever.
