Help Dahlia Receive Radioiodine Therapy

Donation protected
Hi everyone,

I’ve hesitated to create this fundraiser for a couple of months now. I know how much the cost of living has gone up lately, and I truly understand that everyone’s budgets are tighter than usual. Asking for help isn’t easy for me—but Dahlia needs it.

Dahlia has recently been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism caused by a mass pushing up against her thyroid. We initially tried to manage her condition with medication, but unfortunately, she had an allergic reaction and couldn’t continue taking it. We also explored the special veterinary diet for this condition, but it contains high levels of chicken, which she’s severely allergic to.

That leaves us with the next—and most effective—treatment option: radioactive iodine therapy. This therapy has a 95–98% cure rate, requires only one treatment, and usually means no more daily medications or ongoing side effects.

Dahlia is scheduled for her radioiodine therapy on Friday, October 17th. The treatment itself costs nearly $3,500, and I’ve already covered her blood tests and urinalysis required for pre-screening. She’ll also need follow-up blood work afterward, which costs approximately $130–$170 per visit.

While this treatment is her best chance at a full recovery, it’s a significant financial strain. Any contribution—no matter how small—would be greatly appreciated and help Dahlia return to her healthy, loving self. If a donation isn't possible at the moment, sharing this GoFundMe would still mean so much and help us more than you know.

I'll share updates about Dahlia throughout her treatment and recovery, so feel free to check in frequently to this page for pictures and (most likely) a few funny stories.

Thank you so much for reading, sharing, or donating. Your kindness and support mean more than words can express. ❤️

Hyperthyroidism in Cats

What is Hyperthyroidism?

Hyperthyroidism is a common condition in older cats caused by benign (non-cancerous) growths in
the thyroid glands. These glands, located in the neck, produce thyroxine (T4), a hormone that
regulates metabolism. When too much T4 is produced, it can affect many organs—especially the
heart, liver and kidneys.

Common Signs of Hyperthyroidism:

• Weight loss
• Increased appetite
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Increased thirst and urination
• Restlessness or increased activity
• Changes in coat or shedding
• Vocalizing more than usual
• Agitation or panting
