My dad, Scott Jacobs, is one of the strongest people I know. He has always faced life’s challenges with determination, but right now he is in the fight of his life. He was recently diagnosed with muscle invasive bladder cancer, which has also affected his prostate. He has already been through surgery to remove a kidney stone and to biopsy his bladder tissues, and he faces more treatment and procedures in the days ahead.
On top of cancer, Dad lives with classical Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), a genetic disorder that makes his body more fragile and makes every medical procedure and recovery much harder. He has endured so much medical trauma over the years, and yet he keeps pushing forward with courage. Still, it has been heartbreaking to see how often the hospital system has failed to show him the care and compassion he deserves.
Despite everything, my father continues to fight, but he should not have to fight alone. The financial burden of his condition is overwhelming, despite having insurance. Between hospitalizations, cancer treatments, specialized care related to Ehlers-Danlos, and everyday living expenses, it has become more than he can manage by himself.
We are asking for help to ease this burden so that Dad can focus on what matters most: fighting cancer and trying to heal. Any donation — no matter how small — will go directly toward his medical care and living needs during this difficult time.
If you cannot donate, please consider sharing his story. Every act of support means the world to us.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping my dad.
