Transplant Help For Dad Of 2 Girls
Donation protected
Please help Stephen Manford provide for his young girls’ ages 4 & 6. This is a 39 year-old father. He was diagnosed at the age of 21 with Type 1 Diabetes, after 18 years his Diabetes has caused severe health issues. He is now Experiencing life-threatening kidney failure-stage 4 (of 5), along with Type 1, insulin resistant Diabetes. He is hoping to be added to the kidney list this month (Nov).
In October they performed surgery to connect an artery & vein in his wrist, called a FISTULA, this prepares his body for dialysis. This takes about two months for the vein to mature into a secondary artery for dialysis.
Unfortunately, Stephens’ doctors had to place a catheter connecting directly into his heart in order to proceed with his Dialysis immediately, due to his low kidney functions and high toxin levels. In time they will administer his Dialysis through his FISTULA once it is mature.
Stephen is currently undergoing dialysis 4 hours a day, 3 times every week, uninterrupted and continuous until he receives a healthy kidney transplant! His body swells from water retention and toxins. This is also affecting his breathing and energy levels. His Dialysis removes anywhere from 7 to 11 pounds of water and toxins from his blood at each treatment.
He will try to work during this time (part time), all depending on how his body deals with his conditions. At the present he is not allowed to work with his catheter. He is dealing with many problems and will take each day - one day at a time.
We are asking the community along with family and friends for financial support. Stephen is devastated by his accumulating medical bills for his hospital stays, surgeon fees, lab testing, CT’s, medications, etc., as well as the cost of his insurance each month.
These costs are ongoing and with the new year coming up again, he will have to meet his high deductibles of $5000, co-insurance, medications, family medical insurance of $955 a month, etc. This has become a tremendous burden to Stephen. Stephen's aunts and uncles have collected (almost) enough money for his mom to pay his personal bills for the current month.
He is living with his parents, Steve & Sherry, for their assistance. Sherry stays by his side during each of his Dialysis treatments, taking notes in order to understand the process and to ask questions. He has & will have other family & friends with him at times during dialysis. She (mom) knows that he will have to deal with this (Dialysis) on his own one day. But for now having someone there helps to take his mind off what is going on. This is the only way they know how to deal with this as a “Family”. They have to understand the disease just as they did when his dad, Steve had cancer at the age of 29, and his younger brother, Nic, cancer at the age of 13, and mom is a border line diabetic. This is why his immediate family cannot donate their kidney.
Financial support will be highly appreciated! This particular go fund me page and all contributions will be utilized over the next 3 years to assist Stephen with his financial responsibilities. This includes supporting his two girls with food, clothing, school supplies and housing.
If you cannot help personally, please help share our vital Message to your friends and loved ones. We believe in the power of prayer and miracles, and we need them now, more than ever.
