My dad was diagnosed with ocular melanoma in May of 2013, it was a difficult time for our family as I was in hospital very sick and about to have Gemma who was a premie. My mom went between Mayo Clinic Jacksonville for my dad and Halifax hospital in Daytona to be supportive of us both. We made it through that difficult time with love and support from our family and friends. 
My dad accepted his terms of losing an eye but it did dramatically change his life and make it difficult for him to work like he did previously. He was no longer eligible for life insurance and finances became strained. 

For those of you unaware, my dad struggled with Lyme disease for over 30 years. Weeks leading up to his passing, he thought he may be having a Lyme flare up and went to his infectious disease doctor for help on October 30th. His blood work came out fine with one exception to elevated liver enzymes but we noticed every day he seemed to grow weaker. One week later, Tuesday, November 6, my dad agreed to go back to the doctor and she immediately saw that he needed to be admitted to the hospital. Wednesday, after many tests we got a diagnosis of metastasized melanoma liver cancer. Friday, November 9th the angels came to take my dad home. 
Melanoma is a very serious, elusive type of cancer. Things can appear fine until it’s too late to do anything. It is important that we bring awareness to this disease.

My mother has been left with not only a broken heart but a financial burden as well. 

To ease her struggle, let’s help Dad, help Mom. This would be a blessing from heaven.
