Ten years ago, my dad and I made a pact - We’d visit the Grand Canyon when I turned 30, as it would coincide with his retirement. Life went on, locations changed, priorities shifted, importance fell on to more immediate needs — I turned 30 in April, during my first year of graduate school, over 3,000 miles away from my pop. He retired in January. Our dream felt like something we could plan together leisurely; better late than never, right? This week my dad was diagnosed with stage 3A Lung Cancer; inoperable. He will start treatments later this summer. IT IS GRAND CANYON TIME!! I’m looking to raise money to help us with airfare, hotel costs, and accommodations for persons with disabilities (as he is an amputee) — life is impermanent and everyone deserves to witness the beauty of what life has to offer.
