For years, “Dad” has lived quietly in Medicine Hat as part of the only colony of cats in the city ever approved for Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR). Thanks to that program, Dad was neutered and could live out his life without adding more kittens to the endless cycle of suffering.

Dad is also the reason we opened CatsNCatsNCats Community Cat Sanctuary. Our dream was to build the sanctuary first and then welcome permanent residents, but sometimes the cats choose the timing. Dad showed us he needed us now.

Recently, Dad’s health has taken a painful turn. His mouth is in such terrible shape that he needs full mouth dental extractions—a $3,000 procedure—so he can eat, live pain-free, and enjoy the retirement he so deeply deserves.

The pain had become so overwhelming that this short-haired boy was completely matted and pelted — something that should never happen to a cat with his coat. When we brought other cats for TNR surgeries, our friends at AARCS Veterinary Hospital stepped in. While Dad was sedated, they shaved away the mats, treated his ear problems, and confirmed the heartbreaking truth: his teeth are beyond saving, and without dental surgery, every meal will remain agony.

At the same time, we’re also caring for Trey, another community cat who is scheduled for a leg amputation next week. Thanks to incredible supporters, Trey’s surgery is covered—but now Dad urgently needs help.

Dad has already given so much: he’s survived winters, endured hardship, and reminded us why sanctuary is necessary. Now he deserves comfort, safety, and love in his golden years.
