Hello, our family has been in crisis for several months. After suffering financial disaster, my sister Rachel has taken on nearly 100% of the financial and mental burden of fixing this crisis and managing our dad’s day-to-day expenses, but this latest blow is just one too many for us. Our dad is not the type of man to ask for help, but we have hit what feels like an insurmountable obstacle and now we need to reach out for any assistance we can find. We are asking for support in paying for a very expensive and much-needed dental surgery for our father. He recently lost the last of his upper teeth and requires implant-mounted dentures. My name is Sarah and I am fundraising on behalf of my father. My sister Rachel is also co-fundraising. Our father has been an amazing provider and always cared for his family, including his parents and siblings. He has spent the majority of his life supporting his daughters and his wife, our mom Carol, who battled mental and physical ailments all of her adult life. Philip lost his wife after a long battle with cancer shortly after Hurricane Harvey in 2017. While still grieving and attempting to rebuild his house, he then took on caregiving for his mother, while maintaining his full-time work schedule in his career as a pipeline technician. In the middle of lifting his mother from her bed, he suffered a stroke in 2019 and, not long after, he was dealt another blow by the death of his mother. Although he made great strides in post-stroke recovery, he was subsequently was forced into early retirement by his long-time employer and saddled with a great deal of medical bills. Early in 2024, Philip revealed to his daughters that he was struggling financially after entering the online dating world and encountering several financial scammers. He was left with almost nothing. His entire life’s savings and retirement were drained. My sister Rachel and I have since been reeling and scrambling to handle this emergency, with zero experience in any situation like this. While we have pursued criminal damages against these parties, we have been told to numerous times that there is essentially no way to recover this money which is likely long-gone overseas. Our legal recourse would be a years-long battle and we have no way of knowing what results it will yield. Because of the details of the scam there is also a gigantic tax burden for the money which has been lost, but our current and most urgent expense is getting this dental surgery scheduled and completed. We just feel like we are out of options. Anything helps. Thank you for reading and please share even if you cannot contribute! Thank you.
