On Wednesday, June 18th, my father returned home from a Father's Day vacation to find his home had been burglarized and set on fire. They took his fishing poles, stripped his boat, stole his tools that he uses to make a living, and torched his house to cover their tracks. They returned three more times to pick at what was left, knowing the home was now uninhabitable. The people who did this are still at large, and there is little to no hope that any of his things will be recovered. He also, unfortunately, did not have any type of insurance on anything.
Anyone who knows Rick knows he would give you his last dollar even if he needed it more. He currently spends all his time helping raise his grandchildren and fixing his kids' houses and vehicles. He's a kind, generous, humble, and gentle man. He's the last person who deserved for something like this to happen to him.
Now my dad is starting over. Anything donated will go to helping him find a new home, replacing his tools, clothing, furniture, and essentials.
We are working on a new home for him, but the interim has been costly; having nowhere safe to store his remaining possessions or a place to hang his hat has been difficult.
Our first goal is to raise money in efforts to find him a safer place to live and replace some of the tools that were stolen. Any little bit helps. Thank you.
