My dad, Michael Lipford, is the sole provider for himself and my mom (and dogs.) He is the hardest working man I know. Everyone who knows him knows he is always working. He would also give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.

He is currently out of work and it is unknown when (if?) he can return. He is self employed,doing construction.

He dad was diagnosed with 2 types of cancer 4+ years ago. He has already undergone surgery, chemo, and radiation early after initial diagnosis.

He recently found it had metastasized in another area. That tumor actually ruptured prior to radiation. Now, this radiation has been complete for around 7 weeks. During a several weeks stretch of at that time, he was unable to work.

Now, weeks later, he is facing even more pain and challenges.

His tumor/lymph node area that was radiated began bleeding profusely.

He went to the ER on Monday night, only to basically have nothing but a CT done. They didn't even clean or properly bandage the bleeding wound and sent him home.

Then, the next day, Tuesday, June 17, it began pouring blood once again.

911 was called. The paramedics packed the wound so he could make it to a different ER.

After the longest night in the ER, we were told the radiated area is infected. He was immediately started on 3 powerful antibiotics and scheduled for surgery.

Thankfully the infection had not yet caused sepsis. Due to the location of the tumor/lymph node in question, it can not be surgically removed. Unfortunately, it is directly at his femoral artery and would require a very risky, potentially fatal surgery.

He did have surgery this morning (6/18) to remove infection. This however will leave a never healing wound due to the radiation of the area. He will require ongoing wound care and management.

We are currently waiting for further test results involving the area and his entire leg that is extremely swollen.
