Hello! My dad is currently hospitalized. He has been sober for almost 13 years. He was on a transplant list and life-long liver medication. But he was taken off all of it over seven years ago. His liver doctor said he was his miracle patient. He’s also had a regurgitating mitral valve for the past five years. Both attempted clip placements were unsuccessful. In June, we also found out he now has a leaking tricuspid valve. We both got sick with the flu back in June. He ended up in the hospital shortly after with high ammonia levels. His liver has since taken a turn.

He now needs open-heart surgery, quickly followed by a liver transplant. He's retaining excessive water weight, about 30 pounds heavier than usual. He's also experiencing multiple, lesser health issues. Hes disabled, has terrible back pain, a paralyzed vocal cord, hes slightly aspirating into his lungs, he needs a biopsy of the other vocal cord etc.

We lost my mom five years ago due to substance problems. Since then, I have had a baby. For the last four years, it has just been my dad, my son, and I. I don’t know what I would do if something happens to my dad. Once the surgeries are done, I’ll be out of work for at least three months. So we will be financially unstable.

My dad has gone through a lot of hardship and pain over the last 60 years. I'd like him to spend the next couple of decades comfortable, happy, and healthy with his grandson and myself. I figured why not at least try this. Kindness can come from many different places and take shape in many different forms. For anyone who took the time to read this, thank you.
