Our dad started the new year with a bang … literally. While leaving a restaurant on New Year’s Eve, he tripped and fell. Unfortunately, he hit his head pretty hard and he lost consciousness.

He was taken to the hospital by ambulance where they discovered a brain bleed. They rushed him to emergency surgery and thought they fixed it. A couple days later, it started bleeding again and he underwent a second surgery. This one appears to have been a success.

Joe has a long road ahead of him in his recovery process. Once he is no longer required to be under constant monitoring, he will be likely be moved to a rehabilitation facility where he can work on regaining use of his right side and his speech.
